I didn't get the Reed job, either. They found somebody with more extensive programming and system administration experience, which is exactly what I felt my downfall for that position would be. The real kicker is that there were two other jobs there, both slightly lower down the ladder in user support rather than system administration. One of them I thought I had sent in an application for but now I can't find it in my sent mail folder. The other I totally missed because the application deadline was the day I was driving back from the interview. Darn.

I know I should keep trying, but this is pretty dissapointing and frustrating.

I'm starting to look at other areas, but Portland is still my #1 choice. Not only is it a great place where I already have friends, but it is actually affordable compared to most cities.

Back to the hunt, I suppose...

OK, so I didn't get any of the jobs...

Now I need to figure out what to do with myself so I don't go painting the walls here with blood. I need some away time, soon!

I have just over two weeks worth of vacation time saved up, and I'll likely hit the road in a few weeks for somewhere. So, people, recommend other cool places I should check out. I'm looking for cool cities, perhaps places I may not have thought of. Things I might consider: Mid-Atlantic, Eastern Seaboard/New England, Great Lakes Cities. Any clues?

I'm hunting for places I (and Lam) might enjoy living one day. I'll keep trying for Portland, but I figure I might as well look around, too.

This would be a good time to start visiting new places and thinking about places for me to get a new job.
