Jun. 4th, 2005 01:03 amNew plan: Move somewhere cheap where I can get a job with less difficulty.
As a California State University system employee, I could likely get a job more easily at some other CSU campus. I just found a PERFECT job at the Palm Desert extension of the CSU San Bernardino campus. It also happens to be where my parents live and work. The job is doing audiovisual stuff, teleconferencing, distance learning (video), etc. I've got lots of work and other experience for that from my current job as well as KDVS and DCTV, and hobby stuff. As a CSU employee, I think I automatically get higher priority than other applicants.
I think this one will work. It is also a temporary assignment, until June 2006. This is very good to me, because I don't want to fall into the wrong groove and just sit for years like how I am now. YEARS of my life spent working with a man I cannot stand. I know my previous years of work experience will (eventually) pay off in getting me a better job, but I also can't help but wish I hadn't spent so much of my life in these doldrums. Anyway, that temporary (but stable) job would give me one year to escape my current situation, pay down some debt, search for work elsewhere, etc.
I've also looked at CSU campuses in even cheaper areas, like Stanislaus, Turlock, Fresno, and Bakersfield. Ugh. Not too excited about those ones. I'm not super excited about Palm Desert either, but at least having family around might make things a little easier. Plus the air is cleaner there than in the central valley.
I've got to try something, or I'll just go crazy (if it's not too late already).
