It took a really long time to encode all of the video files for my job application submission to Current TV. It was nearly 5pm on thursday that I sent them the email. I got a form letter response, or at least what seemed like a form letter response, on friday that stated this:

Due to the mind-boggling number of submissions we receive every day, we cannot guarantee another response besides this one. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

That was marginally dissapointing, but totally understandable. What really got me excited is that my ISP's stats page shows I got about 450 web hits that day. Every day before that it had hovered below 50 hits, mostly from myself refreshing it as I was editing it. 450 hits! It makes me wish I had more data about what was accessed and the IP ranges that created those hits, because that's a lot more traffic than I expected. Based on the bandwidth usage (~330MB on both thus and fri), I can guess that the actual video was only downloaded a few times, though. I suppose some of that could have been random visitors from search results, and some of it LJ friends, but the big traffic was only on friday, well after I had any new LJ posts, and no hits at all over the weekend. I can't say for sure that it is a good sign, but that's certainly a lot of people or at least a lot of repeated visits/refreshes, which can possibly be construed as a lot of interest from Current TV. I'm excited!

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] beatings, [livejournal.com profile] nekidwhiteboy and [livejournal.com profile] 33mhz. I joyrided your van through a mall last night. I filled it up with dead hookers just for kicks. Sorry about breathing fire on it and 'sploding it. I guess you can't leave now. You'll thank me when the insurance check shows up. You can buy a new life in the BIG CITY. Let the dancing begin.

Hey, Portland. Sorry you won't be getting Zach, Donnie and Mark back. I stole them.

I'm hungry, guys.

CALL ME (land line, yo)
